Industry associations are calling for an independent review of Australia’s Fair Work laws.
A national meeting of more than 20 industry associations and business organisations has taken place in Melbourne, urging a review of Fair Work laws be conducted, preferably by the Productivity Commission.
The meeting was arranged by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and revealed the dissatisfaction with the nation’s industrial relations system.
According to ACCI, Fair Work laws currently fail to strike a balance between employers and employees. Opinions were also expressed that unions hold too much power.
It was requested that the Government and the Opposition acknowledge the need for Fair Work laws to be amended, or risk damaging the economy.
