The Chair of the AIDS Trust of Australia Robert Furley has announced that the Nick Toonen has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Toonen is a past General Manager of the Tasmanian AIDS Council, board member of the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations and member of the Tasmanian HIV/AIDS Ministerial Advisory Committee.
He also received the Order of Australia Medal in 2003 for his role in the Tasmanian gay law reform campaign.
“We are thrilled that the AIDS Trust of Australia has been able to attract someone of Nick’s calibre and skill to lead the next stage of our growth,” Mr Furley said. “He understands the HIV sector and the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.”
