Report to measure the outcomes of community organisations
Mon, 30 November 2009
The Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) is undertaking a major project that will review evidence, practice and policy concerning the measurement of the outcomes of community organisations, in particular the contribution made towards the well-being of children and young people.
As part of this project, a discussion paper Measuring the outcomes of community organisations has been completed.
The ARACY-commissioned report, prepared by KPMG, focuses on through-puts, lack of a common framework for outcome measurement, use of qualitative and quantitative methods and how community organisation’s activities are supported. It highlights that not-for-profits, whether engaged in social service, social enterprise, sporting, recreational or other activities, provide a vital foundation for social inclusion.
The discussion paper will inform further strategy and project development work to be undertaken by ARACY in 2010.
ARACY is seeking input in response to this paper.
Read the discussion paper background paper outlining some of the issues associated with measuring outcomes is also available.
