Volunteering Australia has announced the theme for its National Volunteer Week 2009 – ‘Volunteers: Everyday people, extraordinary contribution’.
Volunteering Australia says the theme acknowledges the enormous contribution of volunteers and the value of volunteering. It carries the message that each individual volunteer’s contribution is extraordinary and encourages new volunteers by reinforcing that this is a field in which everyone can get involved and to which everyone can contribute.

National Volunteer Week 2009 will take place from 11 May to 17 May and is the largest annual celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, providing an opportunity to highlight the role and importance of volunteers in communities, as well as recognising their contribution of the more than 5 million Australians who volunteer.
